love...and the san diego zoo

I was in the car driving back from a couple of pretty good wipeouts at the beach when Brenda got the call that Maria was ENGAGED. We did the typical squeal as she relayed the news to the rest of us in the car. I remember with certain fondness and humor when they first got together, during the first year that Maria & I were living in San Diego as they had to navigate many trials and seasons of growth, as individuals and together.

Needless to articulate, I was so honored when they asked me to go to the World Famous San Diego zoo to take some engagement photos of them... especially because that's where Alex asked Maria to marry him. Ever since I heard their story about how he asked here while they were riding on the SkyTram I wanted to ask him "Weren't you afraid the ring was going to fall???" I guess that shows my clumsy thinking because as we were riding the skytram to "recreate" the moment he simply responded "No, not really."

It was surprisingly humid for a March afternoon, but we had so much fun laughing with (and a bit at) each other that I know their wedding day is going to just as much fun. :)

Your wedding is coming soooo soon! I can't wait for it!

What a fun shoot. I love the setting. I wouldn't think of the zoo for engagement shoots but it works well.
