My talented younger sis

I know that I talk a lot about how amazing of a photographer Kristen (my sister) is, but I feel like she's definitely not limited to being ONLY a photographer. She is definitely an artists tinside and out.

And here's proof. When she took this photo of me it was during a quick hour that I was home on Veteran's day - I had just thrown on this trench coat that she recently got me. No make up. Greasy hair. NOT a good photo day. But still there's such a classic feeling I get from this. Man, she's preeeeeeeeettty amazing.

Tied Up with Love {cathie & steven's DIY wedding {orange, CA}}

With their wedding taking place in June, I was slow on the recap of this.

Never the less, I was a VERY happy guest at their VERY beautiful handmade wedding.
A celebration so full of the things that are characteristically them (scrabble tiles, buttons, yarn balls) and a palette happy colors, yet so centered upon the God who brought them together.

LOVED their epics.

We had a LOT of morning mist that looked like it was going to dampen the happy affair...but it cleared up to be warm June afternoon.

Even from my seat, I knew this would be a great shot...simply because of the clock. The clock that tells us the exact moment that Cathie started walking down the aisle.

Their first first kiss! <3

Mr. & Mrs. STEVEN HONG!

Yarnballs & rose petals = the most lovely centerpieces.

They're getting married in 2010. :)

Favors were handmade candies shaped into buttons

Me and my famous mustard colored dress.

David's bestman toast was probably one of my most favorite ones I'd ever heard.

Having done hair for bridesmaids in another wedding, I have mad props for the person who did the hair for these gals. And I love the simple carnation in their hair.

A lovely tradition is when married couples have to model a kiss for the bride & groom to imitate every time the glasses are tapped. This was Christine & Patrick's reaction to their names getting called to participate.

Red velvet cupcakes were the perfect way to end the day!

All I know, I learned from...BOOKS!

Already jumping in on my holiday shopping - I am the kind of person who wants to find the PERFECT gift for someone... especially in a day of age when its really easy to just have a lot of junk, especially "keepsakes" that you can't throw away because they were gift, I want to bless people with things that are useful, practical and affordable.

While perusing one of my favorite blogs, http://blackeiffel.blogspot.com/, I found a 35% coupon for http://www.chroniclebooks.com. They so many cool books, that I couldn't help but start to form a little wishlist of my own.: :)

It's knitting season again! With all the handmade gifts that I love to make, book on speed knitting would sure be handy. And i'd finally be able to get rid of that yarn i've been hording!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE cake and I love NPR's radio show. {Secret: I really enjoy listening to PBS in the car when I'm driving, especialy NPR & The BBC world news report}. Just even reading the list of some of the recipes in here (Brown Sugar Pound Cake, Peppermint and Chocolate Rum Marble Cake, Lord and Lady Baltimore Cakes, Dark-Chocolate Red Velvet Cake, and Honey Buttercream and Apricot Jam Cake) has me goin' a littttle crazy. Maybe I'm better off without this one though - I would probably drool all over the pages. :P

With all thethe DIY projects on the internet that I have saved to my desktop, I can only imagine how much fun it would be to have this book in my library, especially with the MANY MANY bridal showers/weddings that are coming up.

Not without a Smile

{Hey, Dapper Dan
You've both got your style
But Brother, you're never fully dressed
Without a smile! }

It's a looooooong day at work today, so I thought I would keep it light.
I got lots of smiles for you...

and here are other things that made me smile this week:
  • found http://justmeandmydad.wordpress.com/ this morning - it's a blog by a daughter and dad with their weekly photo expeditions together!
  • Lots of quality time with sisters this week: dinner with petrina, dinner with yuen, yogurt with whit & breakyfast with Kris!
  • This trench coat currently in my closet. I can't wait to wear it!
  • Eileen let me "play" with her hair for Hanna + James' wedding and then brought me coffee & a muffin the next day!
  • Stumbling upon this article about our church plant. Makes me more excited for life in San Jose.
  • Being able to use my hands to help other people.
  • A street party of a different kind.... a Sesame Street party to be exact. These could not be any cuter.
  • coffee&parchment facebooked me and asked me to shoot with her. seriously a great compliment and seriously looking forward to peaking inside the insanely creative mind. ima make it happen.
  • Looking forward to a weekend fuuuuuuullll of love. :)

Have a good one!

happy to be healthy

t's been a bit of a tough week at our house.
With two of our roommates being pretty ill (no surprise with the bug goin' round), we're all on the tired side. Becky and Joyce are tired from not feeling well and actually both are tired of having to sleep all day.

Becky is feel better today - a little more like herself and I know she's thankful.

and she reminded me again that we should be thankful to God that we have good health! She also reminded me that God was gracious to us - and what depraved lives we would live if God had not rescued us.

Indeed, we're happy for that.

Time to Get the Future Started//UCSD Graduation 09

Everyone who knows me, knows well that I loved High School Musical 3. Just today I was listening to the last song and I admit....I got a bit choked up even today when I thought about all the emotions that the characters must have been feeling on their graduation day, how the actors felt when they filmed their last scene, and just in general what a great day graduation is - as fearful as leaving college may be, there's so much to look forward to.

I made it out to the graduation marathon at UCSD to celebrate with different brothers and sisters from our college group. Seriously, I praise God for working in their lives and using them to bless our Lighthouse family and for bringing so much joy into my life, especially the girls who I got to know through small group this past year.

My beautiful Wury.

Steph & her grandparents

Getting to meet Steph in her freshmen year and see her graduate...was wonderful. :)

Catherine & Michelle love their unni.

Kimmy was one of the greatest sources of encouragement that God brought into my life this year. :) We got to share A LOT in terms of ministry through Collegelife together. Truly, a beautiful sister!

Made it to the last ceremony of the weekend!

Just a picture of me, and my partner in crime.

Congratulating her dear Lynn.

I love the LBC collegians!

I miss my girls!
